Quick start
This is the short path from your broker export to figures you can enter into your tax return. The whole process happens in your browser, and you can stop at any point without leaving anything behind.
Before you begin
Export your transaction history as a CSV file from Interactive Brokers or Tastytrade for the year you want to prepare. One file covering the full year is all you need.
The four steps
Choose your broker and tax year. Tell capi.tax which broker the file comes from and which year you are filing for. The right rules for that year are applied automatically.
Upload your
CSVfile. Select or drag in the export from your broker. The file format is recognised for you, and your data stays in the browser.Review the results. capi.tax matches your purchases and sales using the FIFO method, converts every amount into euros, and shows your gains, losses, and estimated tax. Take a moment to check that the figures look right.
Export for your Anlage KAP. Download the prepared report and transfer the values into your tax return. The figures are organised to line up with the relevant KAP entries.
A note on accuracy
The figures are a careful preparation, not the final word. The Finanzamt makes the final calculation based on all your income, your Sparer-Pauschbetrag, and your personal situation, so small differences are normal.
capi.tax prepares your data; it is not tax advice. Please review the figures and ask a tax advisor (Steuerberater) about your personal situation.
